HMS and Microsoft extend their technical alliance a 29th consecutive year

Microsoft Silver Certified Partner
Microsoft and HMS started a technical alliance in 1995 that has endured for over 28 years. Microsoft has just extended HMS Software’s membership in the Microsoft Partner Network for the 2024-2025 season.

Montreal, June 12, 2024 – Microsoft has just confirmed that HMS Software, the publisher of TimeControl, the world's most flexible multi-function timesheet systems will again be a member of the Microsoft Partner Network for an unprecedented 29th consecutive year. This technical partnership is one of the oldest in the IT industry.

“It’s hard to find a lot of parallels to the Microsoft relationship with HMS,” says Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS Software. “The Microsoft program for partners itself has changed names and directions numerous times over the last 29 years. We originally became a part of the Microsoft Solution Provider Program and then shifted into the Microsoft Partner Network when it was created in 2000. While the name may have changed, the intent of both sides in our alliance remains the same. In 1995 when we became a Microsoft Partner for the first time, it was to foster a link between our TimeControl timesheet system and Microsoft Project. Since then both TimeControl and Microsoft Project have expanded and evolved but the integration has remained. TimeControl now leverages multiple Microsoft Technologies including Office 365, Windows Server, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and of course, Microsoft Project and Project Online. The relationship with Microsoft is at both a business level and a technical level with numerous touchpoints across both our organizations and we continue to collaborate with each other as each company releases new technical products and features.”

HMS Software’s TimeControl timesheet has included integration with every version of Microsoft Project since 1995. This includes all of Microsoft’s current editions of Microsoft Project including Microsoft Project for the Desktop, Microsoft Project Online, Microsoft Project Server and Microsoft Project for the Web. Microsoft technology is used to deliver both TimeControl and TimeControl Online, HMS Software’s in-the-cloud subscription timesheet service. Other technologies used can vary from client to client. Windows Server is the platform for the server and some clients will combine that with Microsoft Project, Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, Dynamics or SQL Server.

Using HMS Software’s TimeControl with Microsoft technologies either with TimeControl Online in the cloud or the TimeControl on premise version allows clients to enhance their business processes to comply with numerous timesheet requirements such as simultaneous project tracking, billing, HR management, payroll, job costing and auditable governance such as R&D tax credits, DCAA or Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. As a multi-function timesheet, implementing TimeControl can result in using only one timesheet instead of multiple to respond to those different business needs.

To help navigate the many Microsoft technologies that TimeControl can interact with, HMS has created a resources portal to help identify which Microsoft technologies can be advantageous when using TimeControl. The portal includes resources such as white papers, webcasts, PowerPoint presentations and more. The TimeControl Microsoft Technology Portal can be found at: TimeControl.com/use-cases/microsoft-portal.
